Knitwear designer Kate Wilson founded Oubas Knitwear in 2012, and works in her studio in the village of Witherslack in the Lake District. She founded the brand from a desire and passion to make quality products, here in Britain. The range includes accessories, clothing and homeware.

Kate designs everything herself; prototyping and developing styles in the workshop here on our machinery. Some pieces are then produced for us in longstanding knitwear mills, with some still being produced by us here in Cumbria, and knitted to order.

We work closely with our manufacturers and alongside their skilled makers and craftspeople to ensure a high quality product using the finest materials.

Inspiration is taken from the moods and light in the changing landscapes around, from Japanese and Scandinavian aesthetics, and from textures and tones found in the everyday.

Kate graduated from Winchester School of Art in 2010 and then worked as a knitwear designer in the industry. In the autumn of 2012 she moved back to her home of Cumbria to found Oubas Knitwear.
