Naturally Dyed Cashmere Scarf in Woad Blue
Naturally Dyed Cashmere Scarf in Woad Blue
A delicate pointelle lace scarf. A feminine stitch, in a simple square scarf, that can be worn as a neck tie as shown.
This is a high quality cashmere yarn, spun in Italy by one of the world's leading cashmere mills. It has been dyed using the plant woad, using ancient recipes passed down through generations. The beauty of nature is respected by the mill, and through advanced method, the extraction of colour is achieved, creating a yarn without the use of chemical substances.
The woad plant is grown in the province of Pesaro-Urbino, and is grown carefully for the mill by a local artisan. Since the 14th century, it has been the only colouring agent able to create shades ranging from blue of the highest quality, in both colour terms and also fastness to light and wear resistance.
Woad was particularly popular throughout Europe, until the 17th Century. It was often used to colour fabrics, to paint canvases and colour terracotta.
