Saturday 20th November 2021. Held at the OUBAS Studio, 4 Morecambe Road, Ulverston, LA12 9FU.
We are thrilled to be hosting a workshop with Emily Mae Martin, a fellow Cumbrian and now a repair specialist from Edinburgh who graduated in 2013 in Textiles and completed her Masters in 2018.
Emily's practice is rooted in slow fashion values, using traditional crafts such as patchwork, natural dyeing, embroidery and quilting to create garments, accessories and homewares.
The workshop will give you an introduction to Swiss Darning, woven darning, how to repair dropped stitches and care for your loved clothes.
We invite you to bring along an item you would like to repair to the session, so Emily can help advise and we can support you in learning how to repair an item of your own.
If you have a sewing/knitting kit with crochet hooks, darning needles, darning mushrooms or any yarns you'd like to work with, we invite you to bring those along to the session. We will also have a selection of tools and yarns for you to use in the workshop too.
We will provide tea, coffee, soft drinks and cakes.
We ask due to the session being inside, that you bring and wear a mask. There are 5 spaces per session so we can be spaced out.
Tickets are £45.00 per person and can be purchased via Eventbrite:
